Slow Glow is a short puzzle game made for the Global Game Jam 2026, following the theme MASK.

You play as a firefly guiding sleeping snails through a forest at night. Snails are attracted to light, but staying exposed for too long gets them predated by hawks. Your goal is to mask light sources to keep snails safe while they move.

Gameplay

  • Guide snails by controlling light
  • Mask light sources using the environment
  • Play at your pace, wake up snails when you are ready,  and whatch them fall asleep when they reach safe glow
  • Timers track how long a snail stays exposed
  • If time runs out, a hawk attacks

Puzzle solutions are about visibility, timing, and shadow, not combat.

Theme: MASK

The theme is implemented by:

  • Masking light instead of removing it
  • Controlling what snails and predators can see
  • Using darkness as a protective layer
